Koozie® Family Member: Steve Wegzyn, Fun-Loving Engineer

This month get to know one of our super-talented Engineers, Steve. He is the main man who makes sure every Koozie® product is the perfect combination of function and style.

1. Tell us about yourself. Include one thing we would never expect. Where did you grow up, and what did you want to be when you got older?
I am originally from Oswego, New York, where I grew up with an older brother and sister. I always enjoyed playing sports and good times with family and friends. In college I played ice hockey while earning a degree in Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering. Since graduation I have slowly moved south, working in New York, North Carolina and South Caroline before landing in Florida.

I have known since I was eight years old that I wanted to be an Engineer. Originally, I wanted to work in aerospace engineering for NASA or Pratt & Whitney. When I was a senior in college a professor told me to consider manufacturing since aerospace was contract dependent, so that’s what I did.

2. What projects are you currently working on?
Right now, I am working on some future patentable Koozie® product designs to support the brand.
3. How do you find inspiration when you’re working?
I draw inspiration from my life experiences and like to brainstorm with the rest of the team.
4. What has been your greatest accomplishment as an Engineer?
The products I have patented that have been used by millions of people during my engineering career.
5. How do you spend your days off?
I spend my days off being active and enjoying life with my wife and children. We are usually on or near the water boating, cycling, or enjoying leisure time.
6. What is your favorite drink?
Once in a while I will enjoy a Moscow Mule with no lime juice and lots of ice, or an ice-cold beer on a hot Florida day – always in a Koozie® can cooler.
7. If you could re-live this week all over again, what would you do differently?
I wouldn’t change a thing! I try to follow my dreams while making sure to enjoy the journey. I surround myself with people who share the same values and try to live today as if there is no tomorrow.
Bonus! What songs would be on the soundtrack of your life?
  • One Love by Bob Marley
  • Eye of the Tiger by Survivor
  • I Want to Hold your Hand by The Beatles
  • Perfect by Ed Sheeran
  • Imagine by John Lennon
